The Free Ride Project (OFFICIAL MOVIE) feat: UKcrew

The “FreeRide’ Project is an idea that we had at the start of 2011. Four riders, from different brands, we started traveling together and filming how we wanted our sport to look and be represented…this is a no-mess, un-brand motivated representation of what we want kiteboarding to be and what it means to us as we travel to some of the best spots and biggest wakestyle events through the year, to just have fun and ride!

Following the year of the UK riders Aaron Hadlow, Tom Court, Sam Light and James Boulding (the UKcrew) this video goes to Australia, DR, Hood River, Fuerteventura and the Philippines, with some kiteboarding action in each spot. As well as a section in the CWC cable park during the WONW kite/cable event at the end of 2011.

Sit back and enjoy, the video will be available for free download soon. The idea being that you can burn your own DVD/movie, share it at home or play it in your shops!! Spread the word!!

I usually travel somewhere warm during the off season but after so many years travelling non stop I decided I would give my homespot a try, so I could spend some time at home and enjoy the good things of it. I was really surprised with how good the conditions were. This was definitely a really good choice.

The Waketeam Germany with Sigi Bächler, Conni Schrader, Dominik Lindemann and Philipp Schramm were attending the great European & African Wakeboard & Wakeskate Championships in South Africa.

Wonderful weather and a marvelous location made the well organized event to a great experience for every participant.

A friend of mine hit Indo recently with a couple of new boards and a GoPro.

YOO.TV: So I see you went to Indo for a little trip. You scored some serious waves. Good on ya! So how many times have you been?
Jakob Andersson: This is like the seventh time or something… Nothing beats it!

Y: Does it always get this good?
JA: Not quite, but almost. It’s really consistent but you have to know where to go and when.

Y: What contraptions are you standing on?
JA: I brought three boards all by Nord. A 5’9″ called the gravy, a 6’5″ and a 6’8″ rounded pin for the big days.

Y: Only three boards for such a heavy place? Catch any nasty wipeouts
JA: I was out on a big day and got smashed by a wave and hit the bottom. My leash got tangled in the reef and I couldn’t surface til’ the fucking leash snapped. I’ve got a giant scar on my back from that hold down.

Y: Sick. Does Indo offer anything except surfing?
JA: Shit, yeah. The food is great, the people are so nice and the overall vibe is sooo good. It’s an amazing place to be in.

Y: So indo is obviously paradise. Does anything suck there?
JA: Hell yeah. The cops over there are so corrupt. All they want is your money. Oh yeah, it’s impossible to not get sick from eating or drinking something dodgy, but I can live with that.

Y: Any new trips on the horizon?
JA: I’ll be spending Christmas in Berlin then off to Portugal and when summer comes around back to Indoland.
