TTR Burton New Zealand Open 2011 – Teaser

Snowboarders from around the globe are currently making the annual pilgrimage to Cardrona Alpine Resort in Wanaka, New Zealand for the 2011 installment of the Burton New Zealand Open (BNZO). The BNZO is back as a 5Star event on the TTR World Tour and will kick off with open qualifications on Tuesday, August 9th and wrap up with slopestyle finals on Friday, August 12th and halfpipe finals on Saturday, August 13th. The New Zealand Open is the first major event for halfpipe and slopestyle of the 2011/12 TTR season where all competing riders will earn points towards the all-new TTR World Tour Ranking lists.
TTR Slopestyle and Halfpipe World Tour Rankings get a Jump Start at New Zealand Open
Riders from around the world will not only be competing for a piece of the generous $50,000 NZD prize purse but will also be going after valuable TTR World Tour ranking points that will count toward the TTR Halfpipe Tour Ranking, the TTR Slopestyle Tour Ranking and the TTR Overall Tour Ranking lists. On the men’s side, slopestyle specialists, Eric Willett (USA), Mark McMorris (CAN), Gjermund Braaten (NOR), Seppe Smits (BEL) and Roppe Tonteri (FIN) will be among the favorites competing in New Zealand. For halfpipe, three-time TTR World Tour Champion, Peetu Piiroinen (FIN) will be up against the likes of Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI), Louie Vito (USA), Christian Haller (SUI) and Scotty James (AUS) who all took down some major podiums last season.
On the women’s side, slopestyle competition will be top-notch with reigning two-time TTR World Tour Champion, Jamie Anderson (USA), up against a highly talented field of international riders including Enni Rukajarvi (FIN), Cilka Sadar (SLO), Sarka Pancochova (CZE), Spencer O’Brien (CAN) and Kjersti Buaas (NOR). In the halfpipe, women will continue to play catch-up with Kelly Clark (USA) who won almost every single halfpipe competition she entered last season.

This is an alternate edit for the Alaska section of Burton’s movie “The B”. It was never completed so what you will see here is a very rough version. But I definitely liked where it was going…

We shot it with one 5DMKII, an HVX200 and an HVX200 equipped with a Redrock 35mm adapter.

It was an amazing trip. Although I have shot for years in Valdez, this was my first time to Haines. And it did NOT disappoint. It was Jaakko’s first time to AK. The crew was so fun too… Riding Haines(or anywhere) with Nicolas Muller is just about as good as it gets. Combine that with his good bud Freddie Kalbermatten, Jeremy Jones and Jussi Oksanen and you are definitely in for a good time.

Don’t Panic! Yes, you should not panic. Why panic? Things are good, aren’t they? Speaking of “things”….”Don’t Panic!” is also the name for IsenSevens 2010 movie.
We travelled to powdery Euro resorts, snowed-in German and Scandinavian cities, slushy California parks, Russian ghettos and all kinds of other fun places…..except Vegas. No snow there this year.
With a bunch of new riders, familiar faces and new additions to the production team, we regrouped to form a snowboard-movie-super-alliance which even the United Nations couldn’t shake a stick at.
Equipped with fancy schmancy cameras and cool cranes/jibs/dollys/cable cams/filming monkeys we set out to make yet another fine movie filled with the typical fun riding, banger bangers, people doing stupid things, rails, pow, park, bright and flashy colors and little snow caves.
This years team consists of the usual suspects Fredrik Evensen, Christophe Schmidt, Ludwig Lejkner, Fips & Tobi Strauss, Alex Tank, Tom Klocker, Marco Smolla and the new additions of the swiss connection Colin Frei & David Bertschinger Karg, Austro kicker machine Benny Wetscher, Norwegian viking Sindre Iversen, Italian supermodel Simon Gruber, Scotlands real Braveheart Gary Greenshields and Norwegian super-kid Gjermund Bråten. So be sure to bring your barf bags cause there’s going to be some spinning that will make you dizzy!
The movie will be released mid September and the whole gang can’t wait to show you their new baby.

Riders from around the globe are currently making the trek to Stratton, Vermont for the men’s last 6Star event of the 2009/2010 Swatch TTR World Tour season. The 6Star Burton US Open is set to take hold of Stratton Mountain Resort all next week with slopestyle finals scheduled for Friday, March 19th and halfpipe finals set for Saturday, March 20th. This gives the men two opportunities to obtain good results and improve their TTR ranking score for a chance to finish in the coveted TTR Top 5. For the women, the US Open offers the chance for riders to secure a good position in the rankings before moving on to the women’s season finale, the 6Star Roxy Chicken Jam. There are a host of cash and titles up for grabs at the US Open including the men’s portion of the TTR prize purse worth a total of $200,000 USD that will be handed out at the TTR Awards Ceremony following halfpipe finals which will also see the official crowning of the 09/10 Swatch TTR World Snowboard Champion Peetu Piiroinen.

The Swatch TTR Burton Canadian Open (“CANO”) is coming back to WinSport Canada’s Canada Olympic Park on February 1-7, 2010. Join riders from around the world in competing in world class halfpipe and slopestyle courses and for a $50,000 cash purse. The third stop in the Burton Global Open Series, the CANO will be a crucial stop for riders looking to accumulate BGOS points. This is even more important this year, because the top 3 men and women BGOS riders will be awarded major cash for their hard work (like $50k for 1st, $30k for 2nd and $20k for 3rd). The CANO is also proud to be a 5Star TTR event….just another reason to get out there and compete. All riders that compete will earn TTR points, but the top male and female rider will walk away from the CANO with 800 TTR points and a chance at the TTR Championship title.
