3 days of competition, 66 200 spectators: no doubt, this very first edition of Winter X Games Europe in Tignes was a real success! Thousands of freestyle fans came over to cheer their champions along the Slopestyle course and on the SuperPipe’s copping. It’s the final of the Swatch Girls Pro 2010 in Hossegor, France.
The swell remains a solid 4-5ft (1-1.5m) throughout the entire day with a strong onshore wind making conditions again tough for the girls and turning heats into another battle of physical fitness as well as surfing ability.
Current ASP Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) is unstoppable as she charges to victory at the inaugural Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Swatch Girls Pro taking the title after overcoming Coco Ho (HAW) in the final at the main contest site of Les Bourdaines.
Coco Ho (HAW),2009 ASP Women’s World Tour “rookie” of the year, has a great week with finishing second again at the Swatch Girls Pro after her runner-up place yesterday at the Pro Junior contest. Those 2 second places are going to boost her confidence for the rest of the remaining events of the year.
Jessie Miley-Dyer and Laura Enever, both also from Australia, share the 3rd place.

The conditions on the 4th day of the Swatch Girls Pro 2010 are very contestable, the waves picked up a lot. Its the final of the Pro Juniors. For Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS) the year is going fast, but she is happy with the way she started, its going better than last year. All she can hope to do is to improve, she got loads of 2nd places and hopes that she can make more finals. Stephanie Gilmore, 3x ASP World Champion, really appreciates that Swatch supports surfing and put on a great event for the girls. For her it makes sense to come and support the event and put on a great performance. Those events are harder than CTs because there are more girls, 4 girls in each heat. Stephanie thinks its harder than surfing in a World Tour event, but its brilliant practice for her. Courtney Conlogue (USA) today claims the inaugural Swatch Girls Pro Junior title in a closely fought 35-minute final at Les Bourdaines as she maintains her status as the inform surfer of the entire Swatch Girls Pro Junior.

It’s the 3rd day in Hossegor at the Swatch Girls Pro 2010. Conditions were small and clean with a light cross-shore sea breeze throughout the afternoon as the low tide offered waves in the 2-3ft range. Surfing further south on low tide long rights ran along the bank allowing for some high performance surfing to be laid down by the girls. The finalists for the Swatch Girls Pro Junior are decided during an action packed day of competitive surfing y the best European and overseas under-21 female juniors. Alana from Kauai, Hawaii is very excited to be in the final because she never made a final out of the US. She of course hopes she’s gonna take the win. Coco Ho (HAW) tells us that the event organisers and the girls together decided to hold the final until Sunday May 16. It looks like there is going to be swell.

Today is the Swatch Girls Pro Junior which showcases the talented mix of European and overseas under-21 junior female surfers. The girls battle tough weather conditions that batter the contest site non-stop from first light this morning. Competition runs through one complete round and the round 2 to heat 5 until the small conditions forced the organization to stop the contest at the beginning of the afternoon. Despite of the freezing conditions the girls have to face the girls still love being in France and are enjoying themselves on the water and on the venue site.

The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Swatch Girls Pro 6-Star Women’s event started today with the girls battling the tough weather conditions that battered the contest site non-stop from first light this morning. Competition ran through two complete rounds until the incoming tide suddenly forced a holt to proceedings early in round 4 of this $US35.000 event. Many of the worlds best female surfers including 3-time and current ASP Womens World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) arrived early this morning with strong onshore winds, rain and small 2ft (0.5m) windblown waves. With the outlook for the entire week not looking too promising event officials were forced to run in not the kind of conditions they would have liked.

Hossegor, France – Europe’s Mecca of surfing – hosts the Swatch Girls Pro 2010, a 6-star event of the ASP WQS Tour with the best female surfers in the world.The female elite is competing at one of the planet’s finest beach breaks from the 12th to the 16th of May 2010. The girls are going to rock the waves with unstoppable Girl Power and impress us with their skills on the boards and their beautiful looks!
